Mr. Important

I linked Canyon's e-mail at high school to mine so I could get it on my phone.  This way I wont miss announcements and such. (Notices to the parents don't happen in high school except through Messenger for important things  like P/T conferences, flu shot clinic, early out, etc.  But other things like Spirt Week dress up days, lunch menu, and other general info said during announcements is emailed to the student accounts.)

Well this morning I saw that he had e-mailed his middle school principal and he e-mailed Canyon back.

Which is Canyon's b-day!  How cool is that!

Brass in the Clouds

Not much going on this Saturday eve so we quickly packed up a picnic dinner and headed up Mt. Nebo to listen to some of the Tech band play.

Canyon with a mouthful of Lance peanut butter crackers.

Where we found a flat place to set our chairs, we could not see only hear the band.
It was okay.  It was something to do. The view is beautiful.

Bummer news!!

Shooting for Success, Canyon's basketball program which he has been in for 6 years, has been canceled!  No warning, just curious why we didn't get the info for sign-ups and games start next week so I e-mailed the place and got a response....sorry to inform you but they have not yet made plans to hold Shooting for Success at this time this year.
No one knows.  I told 2 of the therapists I work with who are checking into it because 40+ kids and 40+ volunteers are going to be pretty disappointed.  It's not a charity program either...players have a $30 sign up fee which includes a t-shirt, 4-5 practices/games, and an end pizza party.
I hope we get some answers and what ever the issue is gets fixed so they can play!

So over this

Getting ready for another test.
Still uncertain if I'm just wasting my time or not with all these classes. :|
WoW!  So I took this test on chapters 1-5 which was 1/3 of the text book expecting 30 or so multiple choice questions....turned out to be 8 open response essay questions!!!  Took 2 hours.  Had I known that I wouldn't have started this 'one chance only-once started, must complete' test at 5pm on a school night.  So much for dinner, glad there were left overs!
Bring on the next one!

County Fair Entries

Canyon's class entered art work in the County Fair this year.  All he entered actually he did the year before, but after the fair last year.  So I guess it's all allowed to be entered.

His class took a field trip to see their entries on display.

Sahara and Jared went back to the fair also and saw his things.  Someone's flowers were in front of his happy meal so there wasn't a good picture.  Sahara didn't want to get in trouble moving them.

A few days later he brought home his ribbons and a check.
It wasn't much ($7.50) but I had no idea you get a check for winning ribbons for art work at the fair!  Cool :)

Park Day

I can't believe it is only 62 today.
We took the dogs to Pet Smart and the park.  It was Jamocha's first outing with us and she did great. She would not load in the truck so I had to pick her up so she better learn because picking her up is a lot!
It was adoption day at Pet Smart and they had 8 or so extra dogs on top of the 8 or so with their people in the store.  She was very nervous.
Malaki is a Pet Smart pro.

They look great :)

A little Fun at the Fair

I say a little fun because we only stayed about 1 1/2 hours.  We went so we could see Canyon's entries in the Art and Crafts, but that wasn't open tonight :(  It was free entry night and were not coming back and paying, but Canyon class is having a field trip here to see the entries tomorrow so at least he will get to see his stuff.  We did visit what animals they had such as goats, pigs, chickens, and bunnies.

Then we went on one ride.
(Thank you Sahara for getting us tickets!)
We rode The Stampede.

That's Sahara and Jared down there.

We spotted our truck.

Then we watched the motorcycle in a cage show.

Wish we could have stayed longer, but the fair it soooo expensive.

Good Ol' Time

Canyon and his classmates on their first field trip.  They went to the Dardanelle Visitor's Center and the public library.
(photo stolen from teacher - Mrs. VanEs)
This Friday they are going to the County Fair to see their entries and then lunch at Dairy Queen.

Sahara's Birthday

Thursday, September 4th, Sahara turned 19!
Jared was out of town but Brittany came over with a handful of balloons.

Then we made sliders for dinner with Brittany.

And had mini cup cakes which are really tasty!

Saturday we decided to really celebrate.  We all went out to Las Palmas for lunch.

After lunch, Jared and Canyon went to the house to hang out and the girls went to Pottery Worx.  We ended up each picking a mug to paint.

Sahara tried to do an ombre look with blues, a red handle and red inside.

Brittany picked one with a chevron pattern and used blue and purple with green speckle inside and for the handle.

Moms was a mug in the shape of an owl.

Here they are, upside down because the bottoms are drying.

Looks like blue and purple were popular today!
They all turned out great.  We go back in about 10 days to pick them up.

Then back to the house for gifts.  Thank you all for the cards, Starbucks gift-cards, and money :)
Plus she got a new, very light weight computer that will hopefully take her through college.  Jared got her a pair of Oakley sunglasses which he gave to her early because he has zero patience.

And last was an ice cream cake!

Happy Birthday girl!
 Love you bunches :)

Spring River Trip

Sahara, Canyon, and Jared went to camp at Spring River with dad and Rita.
It's about 3 1/2 hours to get there and Jared drove.  They left shortly after Canyon got home from school.

Friday evening.
Canyon is a little model at the camp site.
Heading in the water.  It's very cold because as it's name states, the river comes from a spring so the water is underground and doesn't have the chance to warm up in the sun.

Saturday.

Sunday.

Some guy there who made a mask out of different skeletal parts to scare people floating by.
Sahara found and egg of some sort.  She brought it home for us to figure out what it is from.
She googled it and thinks it's a goose egg.
A house of some sort with tons of windows.

Party barge up ahead!
They had a good time. Canyon was sunburned even though they applied sunscreen several times.
They got rained on while tubing.
And they had lots of stories about snakes and drunk people!
