The ice storm is out of the state here, but we had rain all day yesterday and the temp was at 34 so no snow. But the temp dropped to 12 last night so all the rain froze and we don't have school/work today.
Yesterday, Canyon's aide called me a t 1:15 to tell me the kids were getting out at 2. I figured the weather was getting worse. When I got home Sahara told me it was because of the Jr. High (her school) It was without electricity all day. They had a generator running the lights and the cafeteria, but no heaters and the generator conked out 4th period. Soooo, lunch was tossed (sloppy joes that weren't all cooked yet) and they gave them cold sandwiches and they sat there with only emergency lights for the next couple hours.
The cub scouts have been working on their pinewood derby cars every other Saturday this month. First Sat was sanding (which I didn't get pics of). Next Sat was painting. The boy next to him chose florescent orange too! But when they are finished they will look completely different.
Next Sat is decals and hopefully wheels and done. The whole thing could have been done in 1 weekend if we did it at home, but they wanted the boys to work together and make it more of a 'project'.
I managed to figure the VCR to get LOST to tape, but I set it for 2 hours (because it was a 2 hour show) and only got the 1st hour taped because the first hour on the tape was Jimmy Kimmel (sp). I guess the game went into overtime. But I watched the rest online (thanks Mel for that info).
It was just announced that the season premier of LOST, because of a basketball game, will be aired at 12:35 tonight. Great! That means since I do not have TIVO or a digital recorder, I will have to find a tape and figure out how to get the VCR to tape it for me. I have a feeling I will just get to miss it :(
Last night, the boy decided to shave. He now has razor burn under one arm and just about tore all the skin off his right knee cap. We managed to get the blood to stop and put band aids on, but this morning the band aids were all off. I don't think he will be doing much crawling around for a few days. And hopefully no more shaving either!!
After going out to dinner with a friend of mine who was in town for the holidays, we went for coffee and she bought Canyon a MudLife magazine. He loves it! Here he is enjoying the magazine for 1 1/2 hours after we came home from coffee and he has taken it to school all week as well.
Sahara asked me this morning what my New Year's resolution is going to be and without batting an eyelash I said 'I want to lose 40 pounds by my 40th b-day.' Then I thought that that would be totally doable. That comes out to 3.33 pounds a month. So, I thought if I made that a public announcement, I might have better luck than just trying to do it. Plus, I am only going to weigh myself once a month at the end of the month and post how I am doing here so everyone and anyone can keep track with me.
