Kind of a last minute decision, but we decided to head to Hot Springs for St. Patrick's Day. It's a huge ordeal there. They have the famous World's Shortest Parade.
First stop was Oaklawn for the Rebel Stakes horse races. We were lucky to find parking!
They were claiming this might have been the most populated crowd ever. Turns out it was with over 37,500 people at Oaklawn.
We saw a local celebrity, Meteorologist Ned Perme. Oops! He might have caught me taking his photo. :)
Jared made a couple bets but $2 bets don't pay much back. His horses did place though.
Shortly after taking Ned's picture, right in front of us, a poor lady had a seizure. Medics got there within seconds and eventually EMS came.
There was also a very drunk girl who was quite entertaining between races.
We did some shopping along the strip.
We had lunner at Granny's Kitchen (probably wont return there because it took forever to be served). Also, we had ice cream at Kilwins. The line was out the door. But the ice cream was delish!
The fountains were turned green.
The parade was not going to be until 7:30 and that was too long to wait since we had been there since 10 am. But we did get a glimpse of a couple Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders.
And lots of crazy cars and motorcycles (and people) were cruising by. Sahara said she could see Nana and Papa in this one.
It was a great time.
We plan to do it again next year!
