Spring Break

As per usual for my Spring Break, It's not about getting to go to places or do fun things, it's a time to get things done.

We did go to Sahara's for the 1st 3 nights.

We came home to go to Canyon's annual physical, thyroid check and this time a c spine x-ray to allow him to keep going to hippo therapy if all is well.  It was and after the appointments we had a treat at Freddy's.

We had Canyon's yearly review with his waiver service and the next day the long awaited new cpap arrived.

My car got new tires which it's been needing since last summer.  I've seen worse, but they were pretty bald.

I did the initial flower bed clean out.  The front wasn't bad but the back was nearly all weeds already.  And, I did waaaay too much online and in town shopping.  A few new summer clothes items, Easter gifts, sheets, etc.  Between the shopping and the tires, 😗, yeah, too much spending.

Woke up on Sunday morning to find on Facebook, what appeared to be someone in my driveway taking a picture of a cow in the neighbor's yard. That house is still being remodeled (it's taking them for-ev-er) so I walked over to see if it was now in the back yard or if the fence was down behind their house and the big farm behind them.. No cow and the fence, although not in very good shape, didn't appear to have any gap or space for a cow to fit though and back.  Don't know where it went.

That about sums up the week.

3rd Time's A Charm

Finally, some real snow!  2 1/2 inches in just over 3 hours.

It was pretty but short lived.  Nearly all of it melted the next day unlike the sleet that stuck around in shaded areas for a week of 60 and 70 degree weather 2 weeks prior.

Visitors Center

Sahara and Liam came to visit because Jared had drill. We took him to the Lake Dardanelle Visitors Center.  I think he hadn't been here before.

He really liked the fish in the big tanks but wasn't so sure about the turtle.

Canyon just went around doing his own thing.

Liam also had a photo done in the Alley at the Art Walk.

Food Fight

I've been making it public what the lunch room has been feeding the kids lately and caught the attention of one of the school board members. This just doesn't seem adequate or lawful to feed 11, 12, 13, and 14 year olds.

This was what was served on 3 separate days.
Interesting to note that this is what they have on the school website, though not as the meal served, just an example.

Also, parents have not been allowed in for lunch because of the pandemic so they really don't know what the trays actually look like.  That was supposed to end today, however, I did not see any parents come to eat with their students.  We had another ice storm which is what they claimed caused not getting product a couple weeks ago when the 1st pictures were taken. However, lunch never looks like the photo on the website.  Not even half the items on the menu are even made or served.  We will see how this goes as I have made it 'the hill I will die on', to quote an old friend, to make the school accountable for better meals.

Sleet Again

Man, another ice storm.  This one closed schools for 3 days.

This is all sleet, no snow.

Canyon slowly losing his mind being stuck in the house for 3 days.

But the icicles were pretty.

Winter Storm Landon

AKA The Groundhog Storm hit us and shut down Arkansas for 2 days.

We got almost 2 inches of ice / sleet and then 1/4 inch of snow on top in the night the 2nd day.

We ventured out for a walk when it stopped sleeting and our ears froze.  It was 26 with a wind chill of 17. We should have worn hats!

Sunday the street was starting to melt and schools were mostly back open throughout the state for Monday.

Of course the 3rd day we had to take a trip into town and spend some money.  😁

Even though I had just bought new pots and pans exactly 2 years ago, they were not holding up like I had hoped.  Lots of chips, nicks, and the outside paint rubbing off and discoloring.

So I got this set at and I love them!

Snow Weekend

Yay! We got some snow.  It started out so wet that it took hours and hours of snowing before it started to stick.

3 inches on the railing but probably not supposed to measure on a railing.

Malaki wanted no part of it.

When the last little bits were melting 2 days later, spring sprang.  Found this set at Ross and for the 1st time, they had enough pieces for all my chairs.
