April - Eclipse, Hike, Upcycle

The Great American Eclipse has arrived!

I ordered shirts for Canyon and myself in the colors that were suppose to "look different" during the eclipse.

Saturday we went down town to Moon Over Main to see what was going on.  NASA was there. We listened to a band, window shopped, ate BBQ nachos and a hot fudge sunday.

We went back Sunday evening and watched another band, ate at a taco/burger truck, and went to the glow dance party.

Monday we went to Merritt Farms to see the eclipse.

Liam got to check out 98% of the eclipse at his house.

Because the towels were textured, the crescents weren't as clear as they could have been with the colander.  I completely forgot to check out our shirts for color change.

It was absolutely amazing! Unfortunately my phone camera is not. This is what I got.

This is what it looked like with your own eyeballs.

To me, the moon looked like a void, a black hole.

The flares (or prominences as they are actually called) were visible with just your naked eye.

And a better picture of the partial.

People trickled in from all over the world to our little town over 3 days, but all left at once.  This is heading out of Russellville going west. 3 perfect weather days. Lots of fun. Super unique and fascinating experience. 10/10 would do again!

River Valley Ability Center took the group on a scavenger hunt hike on Mt. Nebo. The weather was perfect.

Donny and Leighanne (my co-workers) and their son Heath, who is a good friend of Canyon's from Hampton and baseball, met us for dinner before we headed up the mountain.

Park interpreters gave a talk about the animals of Arkansas and showed their pelts and skulls.

They got cards to check off what they found.

Sweet gum balls, fallen logs, and pine cones were found right away.

Deer tracks next.

6 deer ran right in front of us on this road.

We did not lay eyes on a squirrel or a butterfly but found everything else.

This was a really good time!

They upcycled at Hampton and made vases out of water bottles.

March Monsters, Girls Weekend, Sports, and Easter

Liam started soccer.  It looked like he had a good time, but he has also said he wants baseball back.

He got the award for 'dedication'

Finally it was Monster Jam time.
"Monster Jam in March" Liam has been saying since Christmas.

They got to see all the trucks up close and get autographs.

I had my 1st ever Dippin Dots.

It was very loud so it was good that the headphones were brought.  Liam wanted to trade headphones with Canyon several times.

This was the end of the motorcycle part of the show.

Liam's favorite truck doing donuts.

Grave Digger doing a flip and then crashing over.

Sahara took a weekend trip to Scottsdale for her friend, Kallie's, bachelorette party. It was a whirlwind 40 hours of bars, dancing and sightseeing.

End of Caleb's last hockey season went perfect!
CHAMPS!

End of an era but the start of a new adventure in medical school!!

Easter weekend

They planted jelly beans.

Over night they grew into lolly-pops!

Ha Ha, he's a goof!
