Finally bit the bullet and called a company to come and do a patio for me. It's been something I have thought about doing for a good 3 years but never got around to.
Say good bye to this sad little rotting deck...
and hello to a larger cement patio.
Cement is dry so I had my coffee and read the last 2 chapters. Mosquitoes got me tho.
Now, to haul off the old deck. Took many trips to the back gate and those boards were heavy. I managed not to get a 3 inch screw or a 4 inch nail jabbed in me but they were everywhere. Lots of critters have already made homes in the boards. Ants, spiders, beatles, a centipede, a frog, newly hatched mosquitoes, a lizard...to name a few.
I had company and a supervisor just outside my back gate.
Landscaping is next.
I transplanted all the lilyturf by the bushes at the corners of the house. I will probably box them in with some sort of edging but that's probably a fall project.
Then I dug up all the old, rusting edging that was there. Some of the crape myrtle tree roots grew through so it was quite a task.
Lights are up!
I need to get several bags of dirt for the front edge because after they removed the frame, there is a 6 inch deep / 4 inch wide gap from the cement to the grass all across the front edge.
I love it! Feels like it was always there so you know it was the right choice.
While the deck/patio work was going on, Canyon went camping with Dad and they had a big storm. This isn't the river flooding, it's just from the rain. They said they were staying and hoped it soaked in fast.
Apparently it dried up fairly quickly so they enjoyed the rest of the week.
