Mother's Day

I got a card and gift card from my kiddos :)

On our way out to the Travelers game in Little Rock (Sahara's fancy camera on her phone makes us look plastic)

They serve Canyon's team and family hamburgers and hot dogs every year.

One of the players below tossed Canyon a ball, then he went to get it signed.

We were at the field an hour before the game started and lasted through the 5th inning. (too long to sit around)  It was windy and we got a little rained on.

Next we hit the outlets and the mall and picked up a few odds and ends shopping.

Then to Red Lobster for dinner.

Nice Day :)

Baseball Season Begins

Actually, it started last weekend but there was a ton of rain so all we did was pick up uniforms.

Up to bat.  This is a hit.  You can see the ball in the air waist high by the other team's dugout wall.

Running home.

He made it!

First game success!

Tomorrow, Mother's Day, we go to Little Rock for the Travelers game, shopping, and Red Lobster.

Driveway

So it took nearly 16 years (next month) of living in this house to finally do something about the driveway.  First, to keep the gravel where the gravel needs to stay, and not in the grass, we got 19 railroad ties.

19 railroad ties at 200 pounds a piece.

Jared had a friend come over and it took 3 trips in his truck to get them to the house.

Then we lined them up.

This side is not to keep the gravel out of the grass, but hopefully to help the run-off water from the field to not flood the driveway.

It took about 3 days to get and maneuver these.  Sahara and I with a dolly and a lot of muscle.

Then I ordered gravel.  2 truckloads full.

I bought and had intended to use this felt over all grassy areas after I sprayed the grass with killer, but the spikes to hold it down would not go into the ground anywhere but the front of the house.

We got one truck load on Friday and the second on Tuesday afternoon.  Why?  Because the truck driver didn't get here until after the gravel yard closed and couldn't go back to get the second load.

So, with the first load, we worked up front.  I put these steps in because I realized Malaki would not be able to get to grass from the front or carport door and might not be able to walk in the gravel well.  After I set it up, I found out he has no problem in the gravel after all, so now it's just decoration.

After the second load, we had a lot of shoveling to do.  Since the load came while no one was home, the driver did not do such a nice job for us.

We shoveled gravel for 3 1/2 hours today.

And another 3 today.

Finished!!  That took a lot of time, money, and sweat.  I hope this cures our flooded driveway and carport problems when it rains.

Piggy's new home on the corner.

Area 17 Special Olympics

Here we are at Conway High School, bright and early at 8:03 am on Saturday morning.

We thought it was going to start at 8:30, but we had a longer wait.  At least the weather is nice.

Canyon was the only one at Pottsville that decided to do Special Olympics this year (except for the bowling part).  He is a team of one.
Walking in with 2 volunteers.
Jenna and Brittany.

He's out there, somewhere in the middle.

After opening ceremonies and the sun is pounding today.  It's 9:30 and we are sweating.

Shot Put was first.  He played against two Russellville students, Elijah and Matty.  He plays with these boys in baseball too.
They are the 2 in red and white next to that crazy lady with the green bag. :)

They didn't call out places this year and all the athletes got the same medal.  Even though he is standing in 2nd place, I believe he got 3rd for Shot Put.

We had to find a shade tree for the next hour.

Next was Standing Long Jump.

It was only Canyon and this boy named Austin in their group.  Again, they aren't standing in the correct order because we are pretty sure Canyon got 1st here.
1st is needed to move on to state.  Does this mean he gets to go for 1 event this year?  We may find out Monday or in a week.

Smile

Canyon and his crazy teeth!
This boy will need to have at least 7 if not more baby teeth pulled this summer.  He also has 5   12 year molars (an extra???) that appear to be impacted that may have to be removed later.  He also has 2 teeth in his nasal cavity which may or may not surface somewhere at some point.
After the babies are pulled, he will be left with 9 teeth in his mouth all in the front.  Eating is going to be interesting that's for sure.  They are hoping the permanent teeth will then surface (hopefully, and hopefully at least near where they need to be).  Then we will be checking on the impacted molars.  This process will take years :(  Braces for him may be in order as well.  Paperwork has been submitted to insurance to see what they will, and will not pay for.  It will be about 8 weeks before we know and then we can start scheduling.  Poor kid!!

Easter / Spring Photos

I never get these done before Easter it seems.

Easter morning it was just the 3 of us, so after checking out our baskets, we headed out to take some pictures.

I think this is our favorite.
