Mini Vacay

Getting out of town for 3 days for the 4th.

Sahara and Jared managed to get a 4 day weekend so we took advantage and headed north.

The Fayetteville area was our destination.

First stop, Yo Yum! frozen yogurt at the mall.

Canyon found a butterfly he liked.  The one with owl eyes.

Next was drinks and pizza at JJ's Grill with Sahara's friend Katie.

Then we headed to The Amp for fireworks. Great show!

The next morning we went to the Tanyard Creek Nature Trails.

The weather started out great but it got very hot and very humid quickly.

The rapids were pretty.

We found Sassafras.

And finally found the waterfall.

You could go behind the falls but you'd be soaked and we had another place to go next.

Crystal Bridges was up next after cooling down from the hike.

There was a display of work all painted on art palettes.  Then you create your own.

They have a few pieces of Chihuly blown glass left from the tour.

This painted circle is probably the only piece I'd actually have in my home. Love the colors.

This jacket is made completely of dog tags. It stands about 10 feet tall.

3 story spider in the atrium.

Sahara's shirt matched this hall design.  :)

Next, we were to go to Jared's brother's house to swim, but a big nasty storm beat us there.  We had lasagna, salad, and wine instead.  Also, got to snuggle Sky who is the cutest and softest thing.

The next morning we went to the Bentonville Farmers Market.  They sell all sorts of mushrooms!

Sahara bought a bowl of huge and delicious blackberries.

In the square where the market is, the original Walmart is too.

Old fashion sodas for sale.  We forgot to go back to pick a few flavors.

Sam Walton's office.

All the buttons that Walmart associates have worn.

Sam's truck that he sold out of before getting the first store.

Next to the 5 and 10 is the Walmart Cafe.  We had ice cream and malts.

Then a stop at the park so the littles could play.
Canyon snuggled Coco.

Kayce, Canyon, and Sky selfie.

The 4 of us split off again and went to the Old Spanish Treasure Cavern.

This stalagmite is 10 feet tall.

The 'bridge of hope' because they hope it wont fall down on anyone.

How dark it was for the original cavers.

The ceiling of the cave is covered with fossils of this creature, thought to be extinct but it has been rediscovered.

Medicine bottle over 100 years old that still contains all of the pills.

Then on to lunch at Hammontree's.  It was recommended to us, but we wont go back.  Jared got a hair in his sandwich so they made another.  They burned that one so they made another.  We got it to go and it was taken off the bill.

Finally, at the neighborhood pool at Jamie's.

Hudson and Nora getting some Uncle Jared time.

This is my first sun of the season!! I'm glowing!

Back to the hotel and Sahara and Jared went with Jamie and Kayce to Urban Forrest for knife throwing.  They said it was a lot of fun but too expensive for me.

Canyon and I stayed in the hotel with a heavy storm overhead and loss of wifi. Because we were car-less and food places were 2 blocks away, we just ate travel snacks for dinner.

Yummy!  :)
The rest of the crew went out to eat.

Then.....

I got the call.
Our Chloe Cat passed.

Back home the next morning.

Tennessee Travels

Sahara, Jared, and Canyon went to Tennessee to visit dad.

The plan was to camp as they usually do every summer but they only had 1 night for camping so they did a day trip to kayak instead.

Canyon really has to work hard to keep up in the towed tube :)

After their visit and on the way home, they stopped off at the ginormous Bass Pro in Memphis.

There is also a resort inside and 2 restaurants.  They had lunch in one.
And a lake!

Sahara said that Canyon probably thought it was an amusement park :)

What storm?

I don't know how we missed it, but there was a big wind storm that blew through Russellville and Pottsville.

We were driving back from Lake Dardanelle on the other side of Russellville to the house and when we got to the neighborhood people were out surveying the damage.  Lots of shingles missing on different houses.  Trash all over the place. From my porch you can see a tree on top of a neighbors house...
...and another one that snapped.

Around the block, this big tree fell over and took out the neighbors house.  They just moved in and had spent only 1 night there so far!

Another big tree fell over a few houses down when other people had just moved in a couple months ago.  Damage was to the fence and shed, not the house.

I just don't know how we could have driven through this wind storm and missed it at the same time.

Summer Crafting - Girls Night

Sahara, Kallie, and I bought cheap denim to paint.

The girls did pockets on pants and I did a shirt.

Then Sahara and I made car coasters.

Fayetteville Pride

This was so much fun!!!

I didn't get very many pictures because this time we were in the parade!

This is our group and 'float".  It is inVocation Counseling which is one of the psychologists Sahara works with and his company.

We handed out beads with his service info and the suicide hotline number.

There were 20,000 people at this parade.  It was massive compared to the Conway one we have done a couple of times.

We're already making plans for next year and will probably do the whole weekend.

We were float #80 and at the end, turned around and there was another mile of people behind us.  We thought we were near last.

2 Trips to Children's

It hasn't been a great week for Canyon.  Sunday evening we headed to Children's for another sleep study.

This time, on top of all the wires and monitors, he had to wear his c-pap.  He was not a happy boy and removed several wires and his c-pap many many times during the night.

It's thumbs up here but that didn't last long.

We go back in 2 week for the results.

2 days after that trauma, we headed back to Children's for outpatient surgery for the rods for canine teeth implants.

He does not do well coming out of anesthesia and yet again, ripped his IV out of his arm even though they were warned that he would do it.  He also refused to get up or transfer to a wheelchair to leave and we had to get someone that could lift him.

Sahara hugs made it a little better that evening.

He is finished with all his meds but touches his upper cheek bones often but will not say whether it hurts or not.  No more tooth work until they check him again the day before his b-day.

Pride

This is our 3rd year at the Pride Parade and Sahara made shirts.

Canyon gave high 5's to all walking by.

It was soooo hot and humid.  Next year I think we will bring our own lunch.  Too expensive.

Baseball Season Over

Seemed like it just started and then it was done.

11 years with the Angels.
