Road Trip Spring Break

On our way to Branson for a few days.  Dogs stay free so Malaki is going with.

After finding the hotel and checking in, we drove up and down the strip and decided to eat at Pasghetti's.

The inside of the the restaurant looked like an Italian village.  It was pretty neat.

But I guess you pay for the ambience, not the actual food.
Canyon and Sahara had the special: Pasghetti and meatball.

I had the chopped Italian salad.  Basically it was $13 for iceberg lettuce. :/  Good thing they had breadsticks or I would have been hungry.

We had 2 very windy and warm (72) days and one very windy and cold (40) day.

La Quinta Inn pool and hot tub.

In the room and Canyon is actually playing games on the iphone.  Usually its just videos he is interested in, but he played this game for a long time.

Continental breakfast at the hotel and lunch at Fuddruckers.
Here I got a grilled chicken salad.  This one was awesome and I took leftovers back to the hotel that we all shared with our hotel breakfast the next morning.

Grand Village shopping.  This place was so cute.  It looked like a little village too with each shop in a different house.

Oh look!  We found McQueen and Mater!

Canyon in the tilted room rolling the ball 'upward' at the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum.

Loved this!!  Went through the spinning room several times.  Jogged through it too.  The faster you go, the more off balance you become.  It was so much fun!

Branson Landing for shopping and pretzel bites at Auntie Anne's.

On the way home we stopped at Arkansas' Grand Canyon.  It was so windy and so cold!

Back home.
That was quick!

Dentist Dilemma

Oh poor Canyon. Had his dentist appt today and finally got the news we have been putting off for the last 4 years. He only lost 6 baby teeth on his own, and 2 were pulled. All the rest of his baby teeth will need to be pulled now. They plan to put him under and do it all at once. His consultation will be April 4th and we will probably schedule for summer. He will be down to 6 teeth on top and 2 on the bottom (plus a couple bottom molars that have grown in 'off' places. We were really hoping he would eventually lose these babies, but the only one that has been loose at all ended up breaking off at gum level. So what's left of it needs to be dug out too. Poor kid!

Transplanting day

Canyon's job is to get all of the stones out of the tops to save.
They haven't been transplanted in a decade. Can you tell?
Oh no! I wasn't watching and Canyon ripped all the leaves and stems away to get to the stones!!
Done!
I did my best with this one, we'll see how it does.

Great day at the Janet Huckabee Nature Center in Ft. Smith

Canyon's class had a field trip.  They practiced archery...

waded out in the water to learn how to seine fish...

and hiked.  He was tuckered out and it's a good thing horse therapy was cancelled because he napped on the couch as soon as he got home for 2 hours!

Haircut

Since Malaki is dragged around by Ranger by his hair, he went in for a cut. He was looking a little scruffy anyway.

Hiking

It was supposed to be sunny and 70 today. We got 59, overcast and windy. But we planned to go hiking today so that's what we did. We found a new trail out by the marina.
Pit stop at the bird stand.
Sahara loved this tree. She said it belonged in a horror movie.

Art Connections

I signed up Canyon for an art group class for people with intellectual disabilities. They only had 2 sign up but are sure more will join as it is brand new. It's for an hour on Wednesdays for 2 months.
He is supposed to wear the necklace next week instead of a name tag.
He also made mom a bracelet but he wore it :) Next week, they paint!

We had our crabfest (since we missed it for New Years). For the first time in probably 5-6 years, we rooted for the winning team!!

Honor Roll

I know it's not the same as the other kids, but he is a hard worker and I think this is the first time I ever saw his name listed :)

Field trip

Mom went with Canyon and his class to check out a post high school option. It was 'ok'. Small, homie, training for possible jobs, work on site, social skills, etc. It just seemed a little sad, sheltered, and a place he will never really leave. Got a few more options to check out and a year+ to make a decision.

So this just happened...

Sahara and Jared liked the idea of a black lab so much with our sweet little lost guest...
That they found this little guy that was being given away.
He was born around Thanksgiving, had 2 sister's that were black with white chests, and is so sweet. The agreement was that they (Sahara and Jared) will be responsible for EVERYTHING! Vet bills, shots, fixing, food, walks, house training, midnight potty breaks, repair/replace/fix anything destroyed. And, he is Jared's dog so he will be spending equal time there too. But of course, the first thing Nana does is snuggle him on the couch while the kids eat dinner. Don't worry, Nana's got the baby. No name yet.

Fur baby

We had the sweetest guest.
This little lost lab girl showed up and made herself at home. So soft, sweet, snuggly, and chill.
We listed her on lost pet sites, contacted the animal shelter, and planned to take her in to get chip checked. But, slowly driving by Friday evening, an SUV with a woman calling out a name, cruised by the house. When she came back down the road I flagged her down. Apparently Athena broke free from the wireless fence system. She was with her sister, Keena, who is still missing. Glad she found her peeps, but she would have been a keeper!
