A LOT going on in December...

Here are some things that took place in December.

Canyon got a new bedroom tree because his other one only lit for 2 nights.  He chose the snowman tree over a fiber-optic one.

Sahara and her work-mates.

Canyon and mom went to the Russellville Parade.  The weather was much nicer than the last several years.

Canyon saw Santa.

Pottsville had it's 1st Annual Christmas Tree lighting at Potts Inn.  It was pretty good and over 400 people showed up.

We decided last minute to come up with a Christmas door at work.  Our's is the tree and our sister class is the fireplace.

I see you mom!

Canyon had his Christmas sing with Star.  They did at least 8 songs.  That's a lot of words to remember.  He really tried to sing with everyone.  

It was hard to keep that nose in place for Rudolph.

And of course, Santa again!

We went to the Christmas Boat Float at Lake Dardanelle.  It was chilly, but they had a lot of bonfires to get toasty by.  The sky had a gorgeous sunset as we were driving there, but this is as good as it was when we arrived.  Which is still pretty.

It's difficult to get these 4 boys to behave at once.  It took about 15 pictures to get one that was good enough.

YAY!!!

He said his first 2 days there are way better than his first 2 days at the permit company he was with for the last 2 weeks.  

Canyon got his bridges installed.  Crossing our figures that this set up will work for him.  Of course he had to have a melt down/shut down, slide off of the dentists chair and fold in half on the floor for 30 minutes. So, only one side got to have the blue light bonding process done to it, the other, we aren't even sure got in the right position and had to harden with time on it's own.  Red arrows are the new teeth.  

Update: The side that didn't get bonded only lasted a little over 24 hours and then disappeared.  We were told to come back in with it if it comes out to be rebonded, but we can not find it.  I'm thinking it was swallowed :(

Canyon and mom were able to make the Bost Christmas party in Lowell.  AKA, Sahara's work.  We had missed the one we are a part of in Russellville.

Bentonville Square lights.  It's weird to think this is all tropical plants in warmer parts of the year and now is all flat with lights.

Christmas Ready

The Christmas is up.

The snowflake tree topper didn't work when I plugged it in.

Hedge make-over

I didn't do much but round out each bush instead of a straight cross hedge.  To me it looks like an old person lives here with a straight across hedge.

Now.

Tomorrow is going to be a nice warm day so I will cut back the lily turf and dig out the outside Christmas lights and see what the plan will be for this year.  Several others on the street put theirs up today. Rain in the forecast for the next 7-10 days so tomorrow is looking like the day. 

Fun at the Amazeum

Another trip up to Bentonville.  This time we checked out the Amazeum.  The lady who checked us in was confused as to why 4 adults with no child wanted to go to the children's museum.  Are you kidding?  They are great fun!

We did have to get special badges and have all of our IDs logged.  :)

Special Olympic Bowling

This is Canyon's last year at Special Olympic Bowling here in town.  Over 21 year olds go to Conway to compete.  It was only he and Michael (also from baseball) on the Star team but Michael didn't show.  

He tried to bowl the regular way for half the time switching back an forth to a between the legs roll.  He has much better aim between the legs.

STRIKE!!

Actually one of his better games.  The 2nd game was only half the points.

He was not competing between these two other bowlers.  They only shared the lane.

He ended up in 2nd place in his division.

Liquor Cabinet Project

At the Sweet Retreat, my alcohol was on a wine rack over the stove.  Here it was on that same wine rack on the kitchen counter and then on a table in the hall.  I saw this cabinet and decided it could be transformed to give the alcohol it's own space. (and maybe wont get as dusty since it's more covered than out in the open).

So it was my next chalk paint creation.  I need to get new brushes though.  So many bristles fell off during painting and I spent more time trying to get them out of the painted surface than anything.  A few I missed unfortunately so they are stuck in there now.

Halloween at the Poppy Patch

The weekend before, we went to 2 parties.  Canyon and I went to the Bost party ourselves.

The next morning we went to the Downtown Fall Fest.  It was very cold and windy.  We were working Dr. Paul's Counselling booth for 5-6 hours. Sahara was with us and we left there to go home and get ready for the Star party/dance.

The next day was Halloween.  Our plan was to sit on the porch and hand out candy.  Lots of 'new' for us.  New house, new neighborhood (with a great front porch for handing out candy), Sahara's not here, Canyon is 21.  I thought it was a good time to switch Canyon from being a treater to being a passer-outer.  

Turns out it was too cold to just sit on the porch.  It was our coldest Halloween in documented history actually.  Starting off the month with our 2nd hottest Oct 1st. So, we sat inside and watched out the big window for treaters to come up.  Actually, at 4:10 I had the first treaters arrive.  I then put a sign on the door that candy would not be ready until 5:30.  That was crazy early!  It was 5:45 before we got the next group.

By 7:15 we had 85 visitors.  Not bad for a cold school night.  I had over bought candy though and still have enough for another Halloween.

Then I caved.  We turned out the light and hit the 7 houses left on the block that still had their lights on.

Red Ribbon Week

I'm glad Canyon's day center participates too.  He loves the dress up days.

Family Pumpkin Painting

My work holds a couple after school activities for the staff and their families during the school year.  This time it was pumpkin painting.
