Petit Jean Car Show

Sahara's idea to head to the annual car show and swap on the mountain. It was so hot!!
Canyon liked taking pics of the cars he enjoyed on his 'phone'.
At the over look. Earlier this year, human remains had been found at the bottom of this drop off :( Some man that had been missing for years I believe.
At the point of this rise is a house. Who lives up there? How do they get to their house? The 360 view must be awesome!
Sahara and Canyon on the other side of the look out. In 1 1/2 weeks, we will be camping at the lake up here :) I hope the weather is kind to us.

Crafting

Sahara got out her embroidery thread that she got several Christmases ago. She decided to fancy up her ear buds.
She started in the morning and it took several hours on and off working on it.
Done that evening and ready to use.
She thought maybe she could make a bunch and sell them. But to be worth her time, $5 buds would have to be sold for $15. But they are cute!!

Hiking Dardanelle Rock

Sahara suggested we go hiking today. It was 11 am so I decided we should pack a lunch and test out our new vaca backpacks as well.
It was 91 with a heat index of 101. Thank goodness for a breeze and trees.
Didn't take long for an injury. Poor Sahara.
Water break.
We finally made it to the top 45 minutes later.
Malaki was a good little dare-devil climber.
It was so hot and so slow going with very slippery shale gravel. Finally! The exit sign.
Back at the house. Sahara's leg.
And thigh.
A little peroxide for good measure. It was pretty dirty.
Mom's knees where none too happy either.
I had to ice pack them for 30 minutes when we returned.
But, we got a hike in on this otherwise kick back Sunday.

Movie Wednesday

Since we got a movie theater upgrade about a year ago, going there is much nicer but more expensive. We did see San Andreas last week and will see the new Jurasic next week. But $30 for a movie is rediculous (and that's with mom bringing her big purse for snacking goodies!). So excited to have $1 summer movies now at the new theater!

It's filling up :)

Last baseball and bbq

We haven't gotten to play for awhile because of storms, but it was clear and sunny today. The hottest day of the year as well. The humidity was near 100 too.
Each team played only one inning before getting trophies.
Canyon coming into home.
A celebratory cross over the plate.
Trophy time!
Canyon and his buddy Briar.
The 'RED' team. CANYON, BRIAR, DESHAWN, CODY, CORY, KAILEN, BEN ZION, TAMERA, MATTHEW. Then we had a bbq but no pictures at that. Til next year!

Oh this is fun...

This guy is up in a tree where we took pics of the swollen river a few days ago. I hope they relocate him safely.

One rotten boy!

Canyon's baseball game was once again canceled. Today was supposed to be a make up from Memorial Day which was also canceled. So, we were to bring hot dogs and cookies. Since our bbq plans after the games are now not happening at all, we decided to cook a pack today and freeze the rest.
It was just Canyon and mom today...we shopped, walked at the marina with Malaki, and hung out at the house. I had to beg him to sit with me while they cooked. Then he decided he didn't want to eat outside, AFTER I dragged all the things we needed out there.
Last he wolfed down his 2 and asked me to have mine. He's rotten!

Goodbye Jamocha

Last night all was well. Jamocha came in from a potty break with Malaki, got her treat and ran into her crate. At 3:30 she started howling. I assumed she was having a bad dream. I started to walk down the hall but she stopped so I turned back to the bedroom. When I got up this morning, there was no movement in the living room. That's not uncommon. I took a shower, got dressed, came out to the living room and Malaki decided he was awake enough to get up. No movement in the crate still. Still not uncommon. I let Malaki out and walked by the crate and asked Jamocha if she was planning to wake up. Then I looked more carefully. I opened the door to the crate loudly hoping to startle her. Nothing, I reached in and her ear and side of her face was cool. No breathing. She was gone. Her howl will haunt me. What happened to her? We will never know. She turned 1 just 2 weeks ago.
As I was digging her grave, I heard her gallop and panting heading towards me.  I was about to call out to her to stop because I didn't want her to get in the mud hole I was working on.  For a second, I had forgotten and then remembered why I was making a mud hole to begin with.  But it was then I realized she wasn't in that cold body anymore.  She was free to run wherever she wanted.  She probably even helped me dig.  She loved to dig.
 RIP Sweet girl.

At the swollen river

We headed to the river to see how high it has gotten with all the recent rain. If you look at the people fishing in the middle, just over their heads you can see the top of the swings at the playground.
The basketball courts.
The pavilion there is where we have had Buddy Walk gatherings. The walking trial is 20 feet under water now.
Then we went to the ramada by the dam.
This is the parking area for camping RVs. Closed of course.
More camping area flooded.
The news was here, but we didn't get interviewed (fine by me). Its supposed to rise another 2 or so feet before it starts to go down. More rain in the forecast.

Are we having fun yet?

Memorial Day weather. It was a beautiful day until dinner time. This rolled in just before dark.
I grabbed some shots of the storm and tornado off of facebook from neighbors.
This was taken by Bailey who is Canyon's age just down the road.
This one I took from the driveway. Then the wind picked up, BIG TIME. We dashed in the house and ran to the laundry room. The bbq grill went tumbling, Jared lost trim off his truck, the dog house blew away and broke as well as a lawn chair. Sahara said the shed door is broken too but I didn't check it out before it got dark. It was only straight line wind, but it was scary!
