Summer Sunsets

So according to the school year calendar, summer is over.  We have had a crazy-weather summer like we have never seen.  7 days in July and August, the air conditioner could be turned off and the windows open. I got to walk and enjoy my coffee in 60something degrees.
We also had some beautiful sunsets.  The news said this was due to Sahara Desert dust making it's way to our atmosphere.

Another summer day...

New cut ~ new color for mom.  Not the best background but I love taking pictures at my bedroom window because I look more washed out and polished in that light :)

This photo actually taken yesterday before lunch with teacher friends.  Turned out the ones who showed up were all retired but me!
Canyon took his coin jar in to be cashed out at the machine at the bank.  He made out with $86.01.  1 cent back in the jar to start over.
After the bank and lunch we hit the lake for some more swimming.  The water was very warm.  As soon as we got there these clouds showed up and rain was in the distance.
But we stayed and the storm vanished before it got to us.

Trying out some selfies.

Mount Nebo

Last minute decision to head up Mount Nebo to the swimming pool at the state park.  It was already noon when we left so Sahara threw together a picnic lunch to take while I gathered other things.
It was pretty quite there when we arrived; only a couple other families.
Canyon' swim selfie for his teacher.

I was there and here is my proof.
 My toes!

The view from the pool to the River Valley below.  Kinda hazy today.  Probably the humidity.
Lunch break in the pool picnic area.

Getting my sun on.
Canyon coming down the slide.  He went round and round on that thing.
It was crowded 2 hours later so we packed up and got a Red Box movie and headed home.

Back from PT training #3.  Check out Sahara's shirt :)

After getting home he received an 'atta boy' from his Sergeant.  He has passed the drills to continue to Basic with one more PT training to go.  Some people (like is brother) don't pass before going to Basic, but they are changing that rule and you can't go to Basic unless you pass by the last PT training.  Which makes sense to me.  He needed 42 push-ups and did 50 in 2 minutes.  He also won his Combative exercise.
Good job Jared :)

2 weeks and counting....

Well, Canyon is counting anyway.  I'm good for more summer.
Wasn't sure if we were gonna hit this.  We didn't go last year but this year, Canyon was in need of a haircut and if they are giving them for free, why not?!
Good thing we got there early because the lines were crazy even before it started.  We did not join these lines, but did manage to get in #5 for a hair cut.
In line (in the shade!) for a haircut.
After the cut in the snow-cone line.

We also got bottles of water and hot dogs.
We had planned to stay for the band and had really good seats, but it was just too hot to be in the full sun.
Photo stop on the way out.
Don't know if we will go next year or not, so hot and so many people.

Partying

Hudson, Jared's nephew, turned 2 this week and Canyon went to the party.  Party goers got a train whistle and a conductor's hat.

Sahara and Jared got Hudson bubble wrap as his gift (don't ask).  But all the kids had fun with it.  Hours after the party, I saw a video of Hudson riding a battery operated car over the bubble wrap.

What would you do for a Klondike Bar?

So proud of this kid!
Today he had to go to the dr to get a shot for school.  New regulations basically made it so all school children will have to get some sort of vaccination before coming back to school.  The dr offices are busy this summer.

Then, by my request, he had to get blood drawn.  Normally he is supposed to have blood drawn for a thyroid check once a year, but 3 years ago he threw a massive fit and the blood work never happened. Then I guess we never went back to do it.  Until today!  And he did great!!!!  He even thanked the Lab Tech afterward.  I also am having his iron levels checked because he gets up and gets dizzy.  He can't really communicate what he is feeling but I know the signs all too well.

I promised a snow cone because he did so well but when we stepped outside the wind was picking up and the clouds were getting dark in a hurry.  Luckily we had Klondike bars in  the fridge.

What a crazy storm.  It hit from the North which never happens.  I was watching the patio roof  bob up and down.  I thought for sure it was going to peel right off.

The silver maple in front of the baby pine was bent in half.  It probably would have snapped if the house wasn't a buffer from the direct wind.

An hour later there was a break in the storm.  I went around gathering things from the backyard that were now in the front yard.  We lost a bunch of branches from the pines.

Oh no!  Part of the siding tore away!  I guess tomorrow I will be learning how to hang siding.
