Monster Jam

Since Sahara is rolling in the big bucks now with her new job, She decided to treat the family to monster trucks!
I thought it was way too expensive but she talked me into it saying it was a once in a life time event.  Which is probably true.

Party in the Pit is first and you get to go down and meet the drivers, take pictures, see the crush cars and the monster trucks up close and personal.

And of course there is tons of merchandise for sale.  Canyon wanted a shirt but I only sprang for a pennant flag.

Canyon only waited in line to meet one of the drivers.  It was a 10-20 minute wait to meet each driver so one was plenty.

He signed the back of Canyon's flag.

Here are some of the crush cars before they get totally mangled.

Then it was time to head up to our seats.  It was still 2 hours to show time so we got pretzels and pizza to eat.  The food was priced a little more logically.

We watched as they slowly kicked out all the people at the pit party to get ready for the show.

The six trucks lined up and the announcer came out to explain how the judging takes place and how the show the night before went.

Then they were off.  They did 4 activities:
racing
donuts
wheelies
freestyle

Intermission happened and then they brought out the cage for motorcycles.  It was a family with a dad, daughter (16) and son (11).  All 3 went in the cage together.  It was crazy.  Sahara was dying.  She did not like that and thought for sure there was going to be an accident.

Canyon didn't have headphones, but they were selling them of course for $20.  Luckily Sahara and Jared thought ahead and bought a pack of ear plugs that we took with us.  I didn't think Canyon would have anything to do with the ear plugs but once those truck engines started, he was ready.  He actually asked for them.  It was LOUD!

Here is one of the trucks doing donuts.

This one is freestyle where they just crash up as much as possible and do as many tricks as they can in 1 minute.

It was a pretty good time.  I think they all enjoyed it but it probably was a once in a life time event.  For 4, the entire event ended up costing about $180.
Thank you Sahara for treating us tonight :)

Hair is everywhere

I knew Sahara was giving Malaki a hair cut. I watched her do it. But when I went to the trash can later, this kinda scared me.

There is more hair in the trash then there is dog left!!

And here is another boy in need of a haircut.

I like boys with long hair (PJ) :) but Canyon's just doesn't have that pretty wave in it.

Field trips in the 'polar plunge'

Polar Plunge is what theyre calling this one. It was 2 last night but this morning getting ready for work/school it is...
Canyon had an out door field trip to a paper mill and The Hieffer Project with his CBI class.  The wind chill was 11 degrees. CRAZY!!
Here he is a the paper mill.

Then today was a field trip the 9th grade class to Little Rock. At the Museum of Discovery he has fun examining his skin and hair up close.
Watching how sound waves work.
Looks like fun and they have new things there since we had last been. But that was probably 6 years ago.

Police Escort

Special treat for Canyon last Friday. His aide sent me these shots of Canyon getting a ride in a police car from the Jr High to the High School. Apparently there was an 'odor' on the shuttle bus that caused it to need to be checked out. Many students travel between the 2 schools on a shuttle bus. But Canyon got the police escort.

Polar Vortex

4 days of record lows nation wide. What a crazy week!  Because of it we got out of school/work 2 hours early Wednesday and just got word...no school tomorrow!! Freezing rain and sleet today and it will continue through noon tomorrow.
I nearly had 2 accidents on the way home from the early release. I came to a curve in the road and slid nearly in the ditch. I barely recovered from that when I came to the stop sign at the T to Sweeden Road. I went right through the stop sign barely missing a big black truck making a left down my road. Good thing there wasn't any other traffic because I didn't stop until I hit the other side of the road I just crossed. SCARY!! At this point I'm facing my back yard sideways in the road. I got it straightened out and crept home. I live about 5 miles from work and saw 3 vehicles in the ditches on the way home, Dover School had a special Ed bus flip with 7 passengers - only injury was a sprained ankle, and Alma School was remaining open throughout the night to house students whose parents couldn't get there to pick them up. (Sooooo glad THAT wasn't us!!)

J. O. B.

Sahara officially works for Bost now as Canyon's waiver person. Replacing Brittany, Jared, Johnathan, Mila, Rusty, and Melanie. She did her training the week before Christmas and has put in a week with Canyon.
Here is her first paycheck but she only sent me this photo before heading off to the bank.
It's up in the air as to how long she can keep this job. And as to how long Canyon still qualifies. He is under review, as EVERYONE in the country is who receives such services. Word is we should know if he still qualifies or not mid summer.
Guess who will be paying her own cell phone bill and insurance next month?!?
